Kool just received my safety recall notice from Ford about the Speed Control Deactivation Switch(SCDS). It says that SCDS poses a risk of an underhood fire if it leaks and this condition may occur when the vehicle is parked or when it is being operated, even if the speed control is not in use.I've owned my 95mark for four years and the cruise has never worked,my car gets to sleep in a garage in our condos were i live so for the past four years my neighbors have been sleeping above my car when my SCDS could have leaked and caught fire! Im calling the dealer ASAFP!

i believe that ford sent out a notice years ago about this.. and if your car has been at a dealership since then.. they would have disconnected that part since replacements werent available..causing your cruise to not work..

since replacement parts are now available they re-sent out a notice...

i wouldnt worry.. thats probably why your cruise doesnt work..

and i also believe i read that there were very very very few incidents where fire has occurred.. more of a precaution then hazard

parts have been released. i installed a new switch on mine tonight.

haha.. i just got my updated recall notice in the mail today !!..

appointment monday at the stealership.... im gonna request that i stand there to watch them after last time i was there...

just to make sure they actually replace the item ...

what happened last time?

what happened last time?

i went in for and oil change with my 93 because i was too busy...

they do a billion point check with the oil change... i get the paper work and it says everythings working great.. looks great .. etc..

then i notice that it says horn is working fine.. which would be fine ..except the horn relay was disconnected due to alarm troubles..

then it says air pressure in tires is at the desired psi... which i knew was untrue since my one tire was extremely low...

and they also said my control arms were fine.. when i knew they desperately needed to be replaced..

soooo..... i came to the conclusion that they didnt inspect ANYTHING !!

then i wondered if they even changed the oil or filter?!?!?...

i guess ill never know...

i didnt say anything to them about it.. ... ill just never go back there for work...or send anybody there

"screw me once..shame on you..... screw me twice.. shame on me"

lol, they dont check anything at my dealership either, one time i had my brakes ready to change but figured id do my alignment first because on saturdays theres actually a line forming in the morning to get service, so i went early in the morning and when i got my "inspection" sheet.......everything was in the GREEN :D ........ ......lol

i have NOT received any notice about the recall from Ford.......dont know why, but im going to stop by tomorrow and see if they got the part available at the dealership......

they might be sending them out by state or region as parts are shipped out to the dealerships

ah yes. the "famous" inspection sheet.

not many ppl fill them out properly.

i dont know why techs half ass on the inspection, there goes money out the door, unless they are happy with just 0.4h for changing oil, all the "big dogs" at work hate me, cuz they get payed too much to change oil (dealer actually looses money when they do it) so i get tons of oil changes, and i up-sell the $hit out of them, every car that comes in the door needs something, and even if the customer doesn't buy anything, at least when their ball joint fails in a mile, my ass is covered

yeah i hate the oil change guys at work too.

i do drivability and they NEVER buy the upsells. just what they need to make it run right and get out of there.

the brakes/suspension (gravy train) guy gets more upsells than the rest of us combined:mad:

I'm the head of the electronics dept at a staples, and we also do tech services. We run a pretty huge promotion the "free pc tune-up" and pretty much every free tuneup we do kills .5 hr of work but we almost ALWAYS find something they need as an upsell (ram, antivirus, etc etc) it works, plus its 85% profit and in retail thats huge!
