I replaced the rear window regulator on the driver side a couple of months ago, and I thought everything went well. Now it seems, it didn't. The window only rolls down about halfway, but the motor keeps going. When I did the job I thought that the window attaching point was a little cheesy, but it seemed to hold so I didn't think anything about it at the time. Now, after looking at this procedure post it occurs to me that I didn't have the white plastic plug that holds the glass to the regulator. As one who apparently didn't have one (thinking 11 year old used car maintained by who knows who, not factory defect here), what would be the best way to solve this issue? If nothing else I'm thinking a short piece of fuel line with a nut, bolt and wide washers as a pressure plug might do the trick. There are no LSs in my local wreckers that I'm aware of and I wouldn't begin to know where to find the correct plug at this point.

i lost the plug on one of the rear windows of my first LS. I got a section of a wooden dowel rod that was the right diameter and cut it to the right length. never had another problem (with that window at least...)

I thought about that, but was concerned that the wood might absorb moisture, swell and possibly break the glass. How long has yours been like this?

well that car was totaled out by someone that didn't think red lights applied to them, but it was in there for probably close to two years before that happend

also if your plug was just missing, check everywhere down in the bottom of the door, it has to be in there somewhere...

or do you think it was lost during the exchange of parts, and got lost outside of the car?

have you tried calling the dealer to see if you could just get that part?

The local dealer's not the best so no, I've not tried them. There's no telling where the part is. I don't recall seeing it, it may still be in the door somewhere but then it may also have crumbled or been discarded. I'll check the door when I get to this to see if it's in there. Thanks.
