I've posted here before about this damn noise, but didn't really get anywhere besides take it to the stealership. When I go over bumps (light to medium, the sound may still be there on the harder bumps, it I can't hear it then), I hear this thudding coming from the rear. I've taken everything out of my trunk, spare tire, jack, lug wrench, etc. I've even taken all of that out and my trunk subfloor (the part that lifts up to give you access to the spare tire/etc) and the noise is still there.
This is a 2002 LS V8 with only a tad over 23k miles on it. I've got underneath and pulled and yanked on all of the suspension components, and they are all tight. And I did actually take it to the stealership and of course, they couldn't figure out what the noise was, and asked them about it being the shocks. I wasn't there to watch over them, as you can't go back there and watch them (I want to), but I'm assuming they did the standard jounce test because I saw palm prints on my rear bumper.
Can anyone give me any ideas of what else to look at here? I'm really stumped, and I don't want to take it back to the dealer to have them tell me there's not a problem. Could it be something like the shock mount? I only ask this, because there's a place on my daily commute to work in town where the road is rigid in the turn lane (frame all the braking I guess). I can hear the thud once per each up and down motion the wheel is making. Or could it be something in the rear end, or even the gas tank? I'm really stumped as the car has so few miles and none of the suspension components *should* be worn out.
