hello guys i got a LS V8 2004 stock. it has now 39k miles on it and i am due for a oil change, but i want to know when and how I know when to change the oil in the rear differential or even if that is needed any input will be apprecieted since i want to get as much as i can do now in terms of maintanace.

I just changed mine cuz i got a diff from a 2000 LS (3.58) that had 80000K on it. Ut I only changed it because all the fluid spilled out in my friends trunk when driving it back. OOPS!

The manual says that your diff fluid is lubed for life and should never be changed unless submergedunderwater. At least this is how it is for the 00-02's. Both generations use 75W 140 lube. Very thick! if you have 39K i wouldnt even worry about it...

The dealer has always told me I needed it, but hmm why would they contradict the manual? oh yeah... to make money
