I'm Installing the New airbags in the rear but I'm having a hard time getting the solenoid to twist into place, it seams the "o" ring provided is to big and it wont fit into place, I tried several other ones but then the bag leaks from the solenoid. Does any one have a trick up their sleeve, or anything else I can use besides the "o" ring. Its not the two o rings on top of the solenoid that are a problem its the one that sits at the botton were it twists into place.

I just replaced a set of rear bags on a 98 yesterday. are the new o-rings the same size as the old ones? they should be, just new looking. Try putting some oil on them to lubercate them. the solenoid should go right into place pretty easily.

If the wrong o rings were supplied then you may need to get some others. Harbor freight tools sells a complete o ring service set for around $10 bucks or so. I am looking at one of the old o rings now & it is a bit thinner then what's in the kit but pretty close.

Try some oil on them.

Are you talking about the area where the yellow marshmellow resides. If so throw it away and with a sharp knife cut along the plastic at the perforations to shorten the solenoid stem. The newer bags take a shorter stem, and that is how to get it.

Really? The new bags that I put on had no issues at all. Maybe some of the manufacturers have different specs?

These were from american air in a strutmasters box but were made by contenintal.

I think he is saying that the o rings themself might be too big though.

yes, its the one that sits there but they are also new solenoids. Thanks

The o rings on the tip of the solenoid is fine, My bags are also made by continental, but I bought new solenoids as well and the new solenoids came with a big o ring that sits on the bottom by were the solenoid twists on, the solenoid by it self goes in and twistes into place fine, but leaks air like crazy. now with the o ring there i can't get the solenoid to twist into place.

The new continental bags came with the 2 smaller orings & a big thick one, since the big one wasn't used before I didn't use it this time, not sure where it went anyways. Sounds like you may have to call them up & get some tech help?

Same here. Is it the big black one you are referring too? Did you lubricate the smaller ones? If not they may not be staying where the should and causing the leak.

I found the leak, it was coming from the airline that hooks up to the solenoid. So far I only had time to replace on of the bags, but this morning the rearend was sagging. Any input?

If you order new solenoids then you do not need to trim, that procedure is only when reusing your old ones. You failed to mention what side was leaking. Again, when you insertr the air line into the new solenoid it is the same as inserting the lines into your air drier on your new compressor. Make sure you have a clean cut squre end with no burrs, and press in firmly.
