Ugh, seems like it's been one thing after another with my 2000 LS recently. Though, I guess for a 13 year old car with 130k miles. it's to be expected. This is more of a rant I guess.

Pulled out of Dunkin Donuts drive through yesterday and the car stalled in the middle of the street and wouldn't restart. AAA came, and he said it didn't sound like the fuel pump was delivering gas. So yesterday, I swapped the fuel pump relay to see if that crapped out, but that didn't fix it. So then I started checking every fuse related to fuel delivery and ignition. The fuel injector fuse was blown. Switched it for a new one, started right up and ran for a few minutes, so I shut it off. Went to start up again and it stalled and then wouldn't turn over again...fuse blew out.

Have it at my mechanics. At least I already pin pointed the problem for him. Is it most likely a bad injector? or could it be a short in the wires?

But I still love my LS.

bad injector, most likely not. short, very possible... Thats why it's important not to take a truck drivers advice (only) when making repairs... you'll end up just throwing parts at it... Never fun. Blowing the fuse could very well be a short in the fuel system on near the fuse box itself... But see what your mech says...or call the tow truck driver :p

I feel your paini man.

I'm going to drive mine from Atlanta to Denver in June, and possibly from Denver to Dallas in July. The last time I did a trip like one of those (4 years ago):
- the car overheated due to degas bottle crack the day before we were supposed to leave (in a way that was really lucky - it would have sucked worse to happen in the middle of Kansas or something)
- the DCCV went out two days into the drive in Tennessee, so we drove into Atlanta with nothing but blasting hot air or open windows on a day in the 90's.

Then my fuel pumps went out about 6 months later.

Three years later, I just replaced the t-stat housing and lower ball joints and am taking the car in for a major inspection before we leave. I want them to check:
- The cooling system hoses and plastic parts
- The suspension system
- The rear U-joint / differential
- COPs and plugs

It's probably a short at the fuel pump. When the starter in my wife's old Stratus was failing, it would blow the fuse.

A short at the fuel pump wouldn't short out the fuel injector fuse though, would it? I really don't know much about fuel systems, so I am really clueless. I only changed the relay for the fuel pump because I had one laying around, and the AAA driver said he didn't hear the fuel pump run when we turned the key. I think the reason why he didn't hear it is because we tried starting it a few times right before that while he was checking under the hood. The only thing I can think of is the fuel system was pressurized before he went to listen for the pump, so the motor didn't run.

Again, I don't know much about the fuel systems, which is why I'm letting my mechanic do this one.

So apparently it was the MAF sensor causing a short in the fuel injector circuit.

Damn, I could of fixed that my self.

Mental note to self :: Dunkin Donuts are bad for MAF sensors !!!
