Other members have posted directions using dryer vent for a ram air tube to the air filter.

I found this product at Lowes and Home Depot, FLEX-A-SPOUT for about $8.50. It is used in conjunction with gutters and down spout. You can be extended and or bend it and it holds its shape; comes in brown, green and white. One end is 2”X3” and the other end is 3”X4” and extends up to 55”.

I used the 2”X3” end in the air box under the hood and cut off the 3”X4” put it next to the left fog lamp. It fits very snug and did not require any fasteners.

I need to pretty it up but it works well.

I tried to take a photo of it in the lower grille but to dark to show.

It is wedged in four places very tight and is not going anywhere.

It is so tight that I had to grab hold with pliers from the top and pull very hard to get it in place. It does not budge.

thats exactly what i did except with dryer vent tubing. yours is probably a smarter idea since it wont rust and im not sure if mine would. i took it out a few weeks ago but will probably use your idea to do it again.
up top i just punched holes in it and zip tied it to the little holes around the larger one where the spout comes out. you might want to put some metal mesh if you havent already over the opening or youll get a buildup of rocks and small debris that can channel straight up to the filter.

I'm still getting use to the K&N CAI so I can't tell. The more cool air I can get to the air filter the better. For under $9 and about 20 min. labor it is a small investment.

I did this same thing on my 02 LS about 2 years ago. I use my XCAL2 to monitor air intake temperature a lot and this mod really does not do much unless you have a BIG scoop at the front of the car to shove air in.

Another recommendation on this would be to use a razor and cut off the square ends off the tubing, thats a bottleneck. You would get more airflow that way. You have the right idea. Good work!

I've bought that same pipe. Painted mine and cut it. Also wedged it into the stock airbox. BUt same pipe, brown green or white haha. Mine cost me 11$ tho at home depot. :(

i used those little mesh sheets you use to fill in holes in walls and put that over the end of mine to keep debris out and not have just an empty hole look in your lower grille

I actually paid $7.49 for the brown it was next to the green for $9.98 at Home Depot????

Lowe's had all the colors for $8.49.

Go figure.

Anyone ever thought about using one of these?

for those that don't know this gets spliced into the tube so that it supposedly by passes any water.

And one of those chrome funnel/baffles at the entrance of the tube at the bumper?

Those get used if you have the snorkel attached directly into your intake. These intakes would not need that since they dont attach intot he intake tubing in the engine compartment, water will never see the engine compartment with a setup like these since there is nothing sucking in. There isnt enough force to push water up a tube like that.

If the tubing was attached to the intake those would work great.

Yes true but it kinda opens ideas for people interested in placing the filter some where else outside the engine bay.

I agree, I have my filter sitting in the front grill area during the summer and then in the wheel well during the winter. I have not had any problems with water gettin ginto the intake, but then again the car isnt driven daily either.

Speaking of which, I am thinking about have the guy that made my intake tube make me something that conects at the MAF and runs down to the bumper grille out of something more profesional looking he said it shouldnt cost much and my intake tube he made cost me JUST over 100 bucks, ( im not knocking down anyones inventions:D ). What do you think?
