I have a few questions about putting a radio in my LS. I bought my LS back in august, its a 2005 LSE. The current sound system is the THX navigation system. I want to put a single DIN alpine deck in, but i can find a silver dash kit, all the ones ive found are black. Anyone know if someone sells a silver kit?

My next question is, do the door speakers have a seperate amplifier, and where is it? I know the rear 6x9 subs have an amp, and the amp is pretty much in plain sight.

Last question, How much of a pain are those PAC steering wheel control adaptors to install?

only black dash kits. you will need to paint it

pac's are sweet, three wires to hook up, ACC, Ground, and the signal wire, then program, however you need to press the button a little longer than with the factory deck

and i gotta know, why the hell would you ditch the factory nav?

never use the Nav, and that damn in dash 6-disc changer doesnt play burned cd's and it aggravates the hell outta me :P plus i cant hook up my ipod or sat radio directly.

I live in RI, this state is so small that if you need a nav to get anywhere your doing something wrong :P

Why?? The THX is hard to beat. The THX system was designed for the LSes interior. IIRC, the components are made by Pioneer. Plus you would have to replace all the speakers and add an amp to drive the new speakers.

Yes, there is a large amplifier on the sidewall in the trunk that powers all of the door speakers.

u can utilize the stock amp and speakers .. a good installer can help you.. i think you need a line level converter.. i used all my stock amos and speakers and it sounds awesome for a stock setup

I got my alpines stock. suck it Gen2's :P haha. Seriously though, like what was said, why get rid of the awesome THX Nav for a single DIN Alpine deck? Were you going for the ida-x series?

yes, the ida-X305 is what im after. i have the alpine mp3 6 disc changer that im going to try to fit in the center console.

one more question.......

How can I still use the factory amps? i cant seem to find any wiring adaptors. Or will that HU have more power than those amps anyway?

LsUnV2, what did you use to keep your factory amps?
