I recently purchased a Pioneer DEH-P5000UB for my 2002 Lincoln LS and was wondering if there are any unexpected installation concerns that I should be aware of. My LS does not have the alpine system in it. I am asking because one of my friends believes that I also need to change out my factory speakers and speaker wires because of the speaker wires being amplified or something of that sort. I have the required harness and in-dash receiver kit. Any response and help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, should be fine to use an adapter harness and the dash kit. Just hook up the amp turn on wire.

youll be fine, I brought a navigation system and connected it right away for warranty issues and all this with the factory speakers, the only thing that I have read here is that you have to use the orange wire from the ashtray light to connect the illumination wire on the stereo, at least thats for mine (eclipse avn6620)

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS ASH TRAY LIGHT I KEEP READING ABOUT!?!?!?!?

I cannot for the life of me find a damned light NEAR my ashtray.... or an orange wire... 02 LSE

Taken apart like 4 times to get at my stuck broke-ass cd changer....

the orange wire is located behind the ashtray is the little light that illuminates the inside of the ashtray, if you remove the panel you will see it, im taking about the complete panel not just the ashtray

little help please

Hey guys i finally got around to installing my radio and when i took out the factory unit i noticed that there are two harness connections coming from the vehicle. I do have the in dash six disc changer but it's not the alpine system. The extra harness connection does say amp on it but i thought only the alpine system has an amp with sub. Kinda stuck with what needs to be done, any help would be greatly appreciated.

AMP is the brand of the manufacturer of the electrical connectors. (AMP was bought out by Tyco not too long ago.) Many of the connectors in Ford cars say AMP on them for this reason.

All that said, if it is an eight pin connector, then that is the connector for the subwoofer amplifier and (if equipped) the center channel speakers amplifier. The factory amps connect quite well to aftermarket radios.

blk ground wire

This is probably a stupid question but i just wanna be sure. Do i connect the blk ground wire from the harness to the blk ground wire from the radios harness and leave be or do i just ground them separately to the cars chassis. I didn't see a ground wire from the factory radio to the chassis so i figured it must have been grounded through the harness that comes from the car. If i do have to ground them to the chassis can the ground wire touch the plastic of the dash kit or does it need to be connected straight to the metal of car.

For best results, use the ground wire in the harness. The ground wire in the harness from the car comes from an electrically "clean" ground location.

Success!!!

Thank you everyone for your input into the completion of my little project. It wasn't as tough as I originally thought, and it saved me a few dollars. I ended up connecting the blk ground from the radios harness to the blk ground wire from the after market harness and it worked like a champ. Once again thank you everyone for your help.

lincoln ls radiop problem

hey i was trying to install a after market double din tv in to my lincoln las.. i conected all the wire radio worked fine for a min then i put in in the car after i connected all the wiring n i went to the store when i cam eback i noticed that the radio wasnt working so i tried the stock radio if that works to see if i blew a fuze but the stock radio the time lights up and the cd's come out n u cant load them in but the main problem is i have no sound nor does it play fm.. does any one know what the problem might be?????

:q:q:q:q um the i tried to hook an in dash tv.. but that didnt work so i tried to hook back the stock radio up but when i did that the radio wont play am/fm or cds.. pretty much theres no sound.. i checkd the fuses but none look blowin.. the weird thing is the radio takes cds in and the clock works, but theres no sound...

Take it to a local shop and stop doing it yourself.

without being there we cant tell you whats wrong.

did you check very fuse or just some of the fuses, if it takes CD's and shows the clock, that sounds like it has constant power but no ACC power. when you say that it just has no sound, do you mean that it shows what radio station you are listening to or no radio station on the display? if it shows the radio station with no sound, then my guess above is wrong, if its the latter, then im probably right. just because a fuse looks good doesn't mean that it is fine, also just because a fuse doesn't say radio, doesn't mean that it doesn't effect the radio.

on second thought, you would have to have screwed up pretty bad to burn up two radios in a day, odds are that you over looked the correct fuse, or you burned up a wire after the fuse box (very uncommon) go back and check every single fuse in all three of the fuse boxes.
