Yep. Got the in-dash 6 CD changer from www.greenleafauto.com about 5 years ago. As long as you replace Alpine to Alpine and non-Alpine to non-Alpine units the swap is plug and play. I got the bonus of a 60's CD someone left in the changer!

OK, thats good news, mine is non alpine. I didn't know if that unit was offered in year 2000. So does that mean that a unit from any year LS will work?

Just go aftermarket. Easier to swap, and you can get some very nice units for pretty cheap.
