I havent had my stock 6 disc unit out to see the back connections, but i am wanting to add a PIE adapter. It seems they all connect using the cd changer input connection. Does the in-dash 6 disc also have a cd changer port on the back of the head unit that allows this connection? How have any of you connected a PIE adapter to your stock head unit ?

pie application guide says frdn-aux works. i have 03 with nav and use the frd03-aux. My system has in dash cd changer and yes it works too. IIRC the way to verify your system has cd changer controls (required for PIE to function) you hit the CD button twice and you should see a message like "no cddj". Once you have the pie installed you hit the cd button twice and it goes to cddj. this is the input the pie uses. if you look at the back of your radio you probably won't be able to tell if it has cd changer port or not. there's a bunch of harnesses back there. the pie has a "pass through" type connector so if something's plugged into the cd changer port it just daisy chains in there.

Ok, i just checked my radio and pushing cd multiple times and holding it and any other combo doesnt display anything on mine. Does your's that displays "CDdj" have the cassette or indash 6-disc ? I have the indash 6-disc, so why would it have a changer connection ? Is that even an option to the the indash changer & the remote changer ? I am sure plenty of people have had their stock radio out before to notice a seperate cd changer input. It says the FRDN-AUX is compatible with LS radio series 815 & 870 ?? Which are those ?

815 and 870 are radio chassis series. Pull your radio out and take a look at the number that is on the radio.
