Can someone please post the instructions for this? I've searched and can't seem to find it.

Where do you want to mount the detector?

If you are wanting to mount detector at the top of the windshield with switched power you can go two ways.

Tap into the switched power in the little black box on the left of the rear view mirror on the windshield and under the headliner. I did mine this way, the wires are thin but it has worked for the last two years.

You can run a wire from the fuse box up the windshield post and under the head liner to the top of the windshield.

I spoke to soon, went and looked at mine.

I taped into the wire that plugs into the back of the mirror. I covered the wire with black spiral wire wrap to the windshield then under the headliner to the right of the mirror where I mounted the detector.

Again, where do you want to mount the detector and what kind of detector.

I remembered Quick LS did an installation of a Valentine and posted in another form, maybe he will chime in.

yeah I want to mount it under the mirror and somehow wire it up there too. what color wire did you tap into...there is a pink, blue/white and black.

I sorry I don't remember. I used a volt/ohm meter (don’t use a test light) and stuck the probes in the connector to make sure I had it correct and was switched power; I also checked my power cord to get all right. I did not cut but stripped the wire and then soldered and wrapped with tape then the spiral wrap. When you solder make sure you cover dash and console. That maybe obvious to most but a hard lesson for me – hot solder in the lap with shorts on.

I made a PDF document with pics showing EXACTLY what you need to do to install this. I've submitted this several times to be added to the tech section. I don't think they have posted any NEW tech articles for the LS in the 1 or 1 1/2 years I've been here.

PM sent regarding mailing you the doc.

Any way to post a attachment here, at least we could find it on a search?

This question comes around about every six months and it would be nice to have an tech article where you could find the information.

Thanks for your work mharrison.

I did find mharrison how to post for all that are looking for power at the rear view mirror.

This should be a TECH ARTICLE.

Thanks again mharrison.

wire it to the pink yellow accessory wire located under the dash in the the ignition harness it is a much thicker wire

I forget what the voltage for my Cobra Radar Detector was, but it was minimal. The wires in my Cobra's adapter were even smaller than the ones to the compass/mirror.

I've had it hard wired like this for maybe a year and a half or two years with no problems.
