Whats the factory "reach" for the spark plugs? For those that dont know, reach is the threaded section that allows the spark plug to be screwed into the cylinder head. Ive found 2 sizes, .708 and .750, yes I know, .042 isnt anything to really worry about but, yea, I just wanna know. Tolerances inside an engine are pretty crucial.

First off what year model is your LS? and Engine size. as for spark plugs on my 2004 ls 3.0L I just bought the motorcraft plugs to replace the ones i had in there. I dont know that .042 will make any diff on clearance..

I am running E3 in mine and they have a reach of 0.690.. I have a 2000 v8.. Noticeable power increase and better fuel mileage (by about 1-2 mpgs).. The part no. is E3-48.. I saw that the stockers are a 0.750 reach.. If you go to summitracing.com, you can see the specs on spark plugs..

Maybe... I never asked b/c I just replaced the plugs with the factory replacement plugs... but I still dont think that .045 of a inch will hit the piston if it does then its prob hitting the head as well.

I've seen were that .045 would make a difference but that was in higher compression engines were the piston moves further up the bore.. I don't think the LS is high enough compression to get that close to the head.. Plus, Bosh makes a plug that is further reach than the stock ones (can't remember the specs).. In general, the stock replacement is .750 so you could get the other, just be shorter..

The 2003-2005 motor is 10.8:1 flats I dont think they have the 13:1 domes that might hit a plug. but I could be wrong, thats why i went back with OEM
