Anyone know what the part is called behind the rotor..if ur looking at the rotor it looks as if it surrounds it.. Mine are a little rusty and I want to clean them up/replace then b4 I buy my slotted-drilled

Thanks

Right on the money guys.. Yea its rusted really bad id rather clean them than replace them if possible

I thought the dust shield was that plastic cover under the car.

Backing plate is on drum brakes

EDIT:
I stand corrected..
Backing plate, ls6, ls8, right from Tasca

In the shop, we have always called them dust sheilds

If the shields have never been off the knuckles before, you will find that they are held on by rivets. The rivets can be drilled out to get them off (for cleaning etc). You would then have to tap a thread and reattach them with stainless machine screws.
