Since I have had my car I was wondering if the fuel door release and trunk release buttons are supposed to illuminate or not when your lights are turned on. I dont ever remember mine illuminating and never looked into it, but if it is supposed to then I should get them to work. Is it a bulb replacement or switch replacement if they are to illuminate???

Thanks,

Nick

No, they do not light up.

Did you notice that the button won't open the trunk while you are moving?

it is pretty lame, damn near every other button lights up. those should too.

I dont mind it...i dont need to hit either while im driving.

I noticed that just about a month or so ago, dark area, I couldnt remember which button was what...kinda dumb if you ask me.

I think they should just be one of those that are ALWAYS lit up (As long as the car is running, or just shut off)

If you need to see it that bad just turn on the cabin lights.

Im pretty sure everybody has figured this out but its the dimmer dial click it up once and bam its a light show.

I didnt say I couldnt find them, it would just be a nice feature.

I think that even better would be it the buttons would light up only when they were enabled (car not moving).

On a similar subject. I had a couple of Grand Marquis that would back light the headlight switch all the time the key was on. That way, in the dark you could find the switch. It doesn't make much difference to me because I always use autolamp, but I wonder why they didn't do this on the LS too.

I thought you got rid of your LS?

No I have not, was for sale for a while, but since my car is like most that I am upside down in the car and need to get a certain amount to sell, and no one ever came up with the money. A couple came close but BS was the end result. So I sold the 95 LSC I had as a back up car if the LS sold. So still have the LS.

New mod, I added the KCE-400BT bluetooth module to my Alpine radio. So far connects, I have to figure why out of the 5 times I have been in the car since it is installed it only downloaded the phone book once????

Hopefully I would like to get different wheels this year, but I dont think money will agree.

Once we get through this horrid winter I will be cleaning the crap out of it again.

IMO , just another bulb to replace. But then again I've had an LS for almost 7 years so when I need to push one of those buttons my hand just knows where it it !

Well not to hijack but on the same subject what about the Fuel/Reset/Status/Setup/whatev buttons above the radio?

And the PRND on the center console?

Ive never been in a car that didnt have a lighted PRND.

not to thread jack, but when i press my fuel door release button the door doesn't open. I can hear it click, but I have to kinda pull on it while whoever's with presses the button. Is there some sort of spring in there that needs replaced or what, because this is a pain in the ass.

Does the one in the trunk work... maybe its the button?

My 04 did this (clicks and all). Some lubrication of the latch mechanism fixed it, for a few years now at least.

okay ill try that, just some lithium grease I'm guessing..

and villalta I didn't think to try that, forgot about it, and I don't know that it would be the button because i can still hear it click when its pressed and if i pull on the door while its pressed it will open, good thoughts though
