Hey All,
I have two quick question about the stock exhaust that i'm sure many people here will know. I tried looking around but I guess my searching efforts aren't that good. Anyways... What is the stock piping diameter on the '00 Lincoln LS V8... I figure it is the same for all but I wanted to clarify my particular model. Also... The stock mufflers are 4x9 ovals correct? Also... they are mounted on their sides from the factory right? I tried to get under my car and I couldn't get a great look. Yet they appear to be 4x9 ovals, mounted on their sides, with an offset/center setup... Am I at all correct? Thanks All

The ID of the stock exhaust system is 2.25". The mufflers are not shapped like an oval set of aftermarket mufflers. They have a very funny shape to them.

Thanks Ken!... I'm trying to put Magnaflows on my '00 LS V8 and I want to modify the bottom of my rear valance and put dual-dual tips. I just want to be sure that the outlet of the magnaflow mufflers, once installed, wont be too far off to the ends of the rear to be able to successfully cut out the bumper. We'll see hwo it goes... any suggestions?

Thanks 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC... Now we have a discrepancy... You say 2" and Ken says 2.25"... Which one is it?!.. lol... I need to know before I purchase my mufflers and such.

Positive the stock cat-back is 2" from my 02 V8. From what I read all are the same. Many on here say 2.25"...I disagreed with that so last time I was up north were my storage barn is that has my old system along with a 02 T-Bird system in it, I double checked. I was right. Both are 2"

The pipes before the cat-back connection appear to be slightly larger probably 2.25", but thats not what I think you need to know.

THey are leaning against my boat in the left corner of the barn.:)

I have the 05 LS's exhaust laying on the garage floor right now for a few "measurements" I took. It is indeed 2" OD piping.

Hey Jason, your barn called me last night. It asked if I could tell you to clean it the hell up. ;) Jesus, if I didn't know any better I would accuse you of running a chop shop by the looks of that picture. :p

I can attest to the 2" on the exhaust system. I originally cut my stock mufflers off, and at that bend you can actually slip a 2" ID pipe over the stock piping right at the mufflers. So it get down to 1 7/8" at the bends as well.

It has been quite some time since I dealt with the stock exhaust on the 00-02 LS so the diameter is probably in the 2" range. However, if my memory serves me well the 03+ LS exhaust is a tad bigger than that.

My stock 05 V8 exhaust was 2" also.

HAHA classic, "I'll get to that later." What a collection though.

I had a friend test his and he swore it was close to 2 and a 1/4 on his 2000. I'll check mine when I get back into town tomorrow. I believe there may be a slight difference because everyone who has responded saying that theirs is 2" have 2002 and above from what I can tell. I really wanna know now :)

broggi007,

I took advantage of the MagnaFlow deal last December and installed a cat-back on my 00 LS - V8. I didn't have to alter/cut anything on the bumper, they fit nicely!

Pete

No ILLS has a 05 and just removed his last week, its sitting in his garage right now and he is quite capable of measuring and agrees its 2". 02V8Sport has a 04 and had a 02 and agrees its 2". I cant imagine why a 00 would be bigger and likely isn't.

Don't go under a car with a tape measure, buy a 2" clamp and you will see it fits right on.

So if one where to cut the stock mufflers off, what size adaptor would one buy if ones mufflers were 2.5"... 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" or... 2" to 2 1/2"?

Definitely 2" to 2.5". The bend right before the stock muffler is weird. You are much better off having a muffler shop custom bend some tubing to hook up your new mufflers and weld the new piping right after the resonators.

I went with 2.5" mufflers on my 02 and felt it was a waste. I have 2.25" mufflers on this 04 and they do the job just fine. A Magnaflow muffler in 2" or even 2.25" will outflow the stock system by quite a bit.

Since we're talking about pipe size and what fits... Has anyone actually attempted to install the 00-02 magnaflow system on an 03+? I've never heard of anyone trying. And at this point, it is VERY evident that Magnaflow will not be producing the system they supposedly had designed for the 03+. Just curious what kind of work would be required to make it fit!

My thought is that if it was that easy, Magnaflow would just use the 00-02 system and put new tips on it to go out the back of the 03+ bumper. But since they are not producing a 03+ exhaust it must be quite a bit different for them to need to produce a entirely new system and take this long to do it.

But Jason, what if a 2" clamp will not be big enough to measure my exhaust? What if I need a 3" clamp??? ;)

Actually I measured my old stock exhaust with machinist calipers.
