ok i have owned a 02 but did not have sst in it....

now i have a 00 with sst..... i click it over go from 5,4,3,2..... never 1... there is only one time i have seen 1st gear in sst..... any reason why? or how i could get it in 1st? i knock it down and down but does not wanna go past 2nd... the track-control have anything to do with it? it's always on.

TC has nothing to do with it. If your LS is not loaded with a tune then you should never see a 1 displayed in digital read out. The 2000-2002 Lincoln LS' only go into 1st when you depress the gas pedal 60%. You should not be able to select below 2nd gear with the shifter, once again, unless it is tuned. The purpose of not being able to select 1st is for fuel economy purposes. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Mostly correct, but not entirely.
It is true, that you have to press the gas pedal 60% or so to get the tranny to downshift to 1. At that point, the 1 WILL display in the digital readout. In addition, you can then manually go to and from first gear, UNTIL you come back to a near complete stop. Once you stop, the process starts all over, and you will continue to start from "2" until you mash the gas 60% or so again..

In stock tune.

Thanks for the correction. That explains why I've never seen a 1 in the digital readout and "uknowmehfo" has...I've never put the pedal 60+% from a stand still.
