quick exhaust question

my dad just got a mark viii and he wants to replace the resonator with a borla pro xs muffler and take the two rear ones off and put some 3.5" tips on....what inlet/outlet diameter would he need to for it to fit in place of where the resonator is...and (approximate) length

I believe it's 2.5" but I could be wrong.
