im in the process of upgrading all of the speakers, and i started off with a clarion component set for the front doors. ive already mounted the woofer, and sorta mounted the tweeter so i could get the wires ran first.

- where have any of you guys mounted the crossovers in your ls? theres not much room in the door to begin with, and i dont want to mess with running more wiring through the door jam plumbing(unless there is no other option.)

-how do you get the top of the front door panel off?(the window switches and above)

-ive temporarily mounted the tweeter on the triangular plastic piece right next to the A-pillar on the front doors. id like to make it flush mount, but im afraid of breaking the plastic. any tips? -grant

When I put in my polk component set, I mounted the crossover inside the door just underneath the arm rest section. There is a cavity big enough to house it, unless your crossover is inordinantly large. I tried attaching a picture, but I need to resize it and don't have time right now.

As for running wire, well if you're going to use the head unit as your amp, then use the factory wiring. If you're serious about the install and want to use all upgraded wiring then you'll have to run new wire through the doors. I'm sure it can be done, but that's not something I wanted to mess about with. I flush mounted my tweeters above the door handle and the sound staging isn't too bad.

For the door panel, it will all come off in one piece. Do a search through the forum and there are plenty of topics showing you how to take it all off.

i actually mounted my 5.25" mid and 1" tweeter in the factory door location with a fabbed panel to house them and the xovers are mounted in the trunk to display them. Fishing the wires isnt that bad. The door panel should just pop up once all screws and connections are taken care of. What sucks is I am about to rerun all my wiring and add 12 gauage twisted pair speaker wire.
