Just currious from reading thread http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=50946. Besides being a cosmetic improvement does the lip serve any purpose? Does it divert or reduce under carriage drag? Also, do you prefer them installed Black or Painted to match the LS?

Thanks SPSully for the phrase 'chin spoiler', in that post is the first time i've heard it called that (although when i Googled it I saw that it is a common term).

this si the Mach 1 Chin spoiler from the newer machs. It was made for the new mach 1's as a retro look for the throwback stang. Its more of just a styling thing though it may offer a very little bit of performance.... who knows LOL. I toyed with the idea of color matching mine to the LS. It really depends what look you want. if you paint it, its still going to add some aggression but it will be more a refined aggression. Leave it in the plastic and its a raw aggression if you will.

I think you will find that there are very few actual functional spoilers out there. most of them are strictly for looks and instead of creating downforce they just turn heads. thats why most of them are designed to flow with the body lines.

Mine is an 04 silver LS. At first, I was thinking color coded would look best but come to think of it, there's a black rocker pannel. So the black spoiler would probably fit well and like you said look more aggressive. (sorry for the poor quality, picture taken with cell phone).

Ahh man WTF?

Sorry that pic wasn't so big when I viewed it!

ummmm i know the mach1s arent as wide as the LS so the lip has to be bent and stratched of sorts. i guess the only way to to find out about the 05 it to measure the width first then go from there.

the 05 chin would look good i think i might look in to that

Theoretically, the less air that goes under the car the less drag there will be. So, it could give you some better mileage and better high-speed performance. Most likely and improvement will be so small that you wouldn't notice IMHO.
