So, Just a serious question here. What is the Difference between this intake from Ebay :

From the Stock Plastic Intake Tube...

I mean I get that its a little more show-off ish seeing how its chrome and all.

But I mean, It isnt really Cold-Air Intake is it?

I mean, We can buy the Adapter for the Air filter mod, but as for performance wise, is there really a difference at all??

I'm not sure about the intake tube itself but the k&n cone air filter is said to up your horsepower. And no it is not a cold air intake. In order to be, it would have to be breathing from outside the engine bay

I have an '06 which has alot less length than the Gen. 1 maf pipe. I used some left over parts from earlier projects and re-used the much shorter Gen 1 LS maf hose. Even so I reused the the factory rubber hose from the maf back to the throttle body. The only part I purchased was the maf adapter and cone filter which work great and makes the LS sound like a race car according to about a dozen people. There is a definite low end torque increase. The sound is better than my '94 5.0 Mustang. That is a sound that ALL car owners should try to achieve.

and you call me the post jockey

Sound restriction would probably be the most noticeable difference, beside now using a cone filter. The growl the LS gets without all the restrictions and with a cone filter is a great addition.

I can't really see a whole lot of benefit to the aluminum pipe except looks and minimal heat dissipation. The stock pipe is hardly any more restrictive and unless you are looking for maximum gains then you can start playing with pipe diameter, length, venturis, stepped diameters and so forth.

Benefit??

I have said here, before, that when racing at Maxton, I got virtually the same terminal speed with the stock air pipe and filter as I did after the change to the aftermarket system. And the installation of the Magnaflow cat-back again failed to increase speed. It DID make a SUBSTANTIAL difference for the better in terms of sound. And I believe that when used in conjunction with other mods such as a good spray system, you'll get into the area where the extra capacity is beneficial.;)
