I just purchased this 95 Mark VIII. There is some play in the steering when I go into a curve. I had the front end checked and everything is tight (there is 55K on the car). The power steering pump has been replaced and the fluid level is full. I've been told that it is probably a leak in the rack and pinion. The remaned part is reasonably priced, but how difficult or expensive it the labor?

Wow Pretty car, were did you find a 95 with only 55? Whats the inside color?
I have a 96 black on black 122K with the slotted bling bling rims

only 55

One of my clients was selling the car for his sister in law. He had bought it for her new in 95. She drove it in the summers only which saved it from the winter salt. It is a camel color inside with what looks like mahogeny wood trim.

the racks usually hold up in the marks, i got 155 on my original and she is still tight, check your "rag joint" its a piece of rubber that the attaches 2 separate pieces of the column together, its down by the rack and those wear out more often than the racks.

Chicken Mine is tight. Seems to tight in fact. IE: It doesn't return when you turn a loose of the wheel.

He's the caster that's in it. It could stand a little more.

Some postings I have read have reported a rack change fixed this.

3.4-4.8 is a big caster split usually want around a -0.3 to counteract road crown and thats it, yours has well over 1 degree split

So what are you saying about the steering wheel not returning?

Just not enough caster in the LF?

That's what I thought you meant. The guy at the alignment is sluffing off. :(

How much do you have in yours?

Spec calls for 5.50deg's +/- .75deg
