got one put in..& these idiots wired it to the ebreak so that I can only watch it while in park w/ the handbrake up...I know all I have to do is ground the wire but WHERE?? I took it back & got someone to ground it..he grounded it to the cigarette lighter that's in the back, but as soon as I turned the car off and back on it wouldnt work, same message saying that it would only work in park....took the wire off and put it back on..it worked until I turned the car off and on..

anyone know where I can ground this too? toggle switch maybe?

which double din? I hear some are a little different to bypass. Not that I'd have the answer, but someone else might.

You need to let us know WHICH make/model of head unit that you have. Then go to google, punch in "bypass" and enter your make model. If you dont find the answer there, let us know

any ground will work

not all units can have a constant grounded input, some need to "see" ground a couple of secs after the unit powers up (some pioneers, dual, and jensing) and some need to have a specific secquence, such as apply the parking brake, release the parking brake, and reapply the parking break. or my favroit is the alpine brake dance of hold the foot brake, set the park break, release the park break, set the park break, then release the foot break.
if its like my friends pioneer 5700avh (model # i think) we had to use a DEI pulse timer. 5 sec after the unit came on it would turn on the brake wire

is the factory radios a double din or a din and a half because the guys i went to get my radio done told me it was a din and a half and a double wouldnt fit. it would have to be custom

ok thats good to know, for the future radio. just have to buy the nav bezel off ebay i guess >_<

ok to bypass it you need to take the wire that needs to be grounded and hook it up to a switch and ground the switch now the radio will think its hook up to the ebrake so everytime you need to watch a dvd just flip the switch on off and you are enjoying a movie in the car on works for many dvd radios not all

good news, scosche just started making a dash kit for it. bad news, it black, and it would need to be painted to match your 2nd gen. just another option, with paint it should be a little cheaper than the stock navi piece. but some people are better with a dremel than with paint.

The deck is a Pioneer avh-p4000dvd, so all I need to do is put a toggle switch somewhere? Does anyone have any recomendations as to where I can put this? A pic perhaps? Any other recomendations?

just got a small toggle switch and run it into the ash try or into the arm rest

Pektel is correct on this. I have the new Avic F90BT and tried to bypass it by connecting the parking brake wire to an ground. It works when the car is stop but as soon as the car reach a certain speed, certain functions that are suppose to be available when the car is parked becomes unavailable. For the F series I know you can bypass it by messing with the data.zip file but I recommend that. I will have to swap the mute wire from one location to another on the harness and then ground it along with the brake wire and this work. Remember this is for the F series radios. Different brands and models are different.
