i apologize in advance if this has been talked about before im just a little paranoid and for the life of me cant find anything

so i started my car this morning , turned key car started , put car in Drive and nothing, usually it goes on its own slowly until i push on the gas.

so i pushed on gas and nothing felt like i had set it on neutral, so i put it in park again and back to drive THUMP, a very hard shift but the car started moving normal, i get to the end of the block to a stop sign , car stop normal , i press on the gas and again like if on neutral, so i put in park again and back to drive again a hard shift but it started rolling , i got to my destination , was there for 2 hours, came back out and the car was like if nothing happened , started fine shifted fine no issues ,

should i be freaking out ?

P.S:
i park my car on the curb leaning towards the right if that matters

i used to park it on the drive way front up tail down, but when i would put it in reverse ion the mornings it would hard shift *THUMP* when taken out of park,

as always please and thank you

when parking any vehicle on inclines, (downhill/uphill) always firmly set Emergency parking brake before switching gear selector to Park as not to lean into the trans, this is what causes the hard pull and THUMP when forcing it into gear while unlevel, all the weight is leaning into the gears. It's not good for it.

of course the E brake has to be in working order, most are not because they aren't used daily.

Check your transmission fluid level. Mine had pretty much the same exact symptoms when i had my tranny replaced and the shop didnt put enough fluid in. If you havent had any tranny work lately, you might have a leak?

how do i check the fluid, i thought these were closed transmissions?

yeah is started doing the Ebrake thing and it worked , i just decided to just park on the curb, thanks

They are no more or less closed than any other. They just don't have a dipstick.
On the bottom of the pan is a coaxial drain plug. With the car level, warmed up, and engine running, remove the inner plug but leave the outer one in place. If a little fluid dribbles out, you have the correct fluid level.

In any event, the last thing that you want to do is what you did, continue to drive it. You could be doing a lot of damage to your transmission.
