I know its been covered, I found one the other day ad I have been tempted to try to program it for my car. I read that its a dealer only thing but I found this. It was the first link in my Google search.

Is this BS?

I dont wanna just toss it out unless it wont work and I found it in the least obvious of places so I know I'll never find the owner. Im not wasting money placing a lost and found add in the paper either. I mean I can be nice but thats just.....:shifty:

Your owners manual states it is a dealer program up to 4 remote fobs.

2nd gen you can program yourself.

Hmm, I skimmed the manual and didnt find it. But it was just a skimming so-thanks!

I'll just give it to the kids.

"Replacing lost transmitters
If a remote transmitter has been lost
and you would like to remove it
from the vehicle’s memory or you
would like to purchase additional
transmitters for your vehicle (up to
four may be programmed into
memory), take all your vehicle’s
transmitters to your dealer for
programming. It will be necessary
for your dealer to reprogram all the
remote transmitters to your vehicle
while performing this service."

Make sure you remove the battery if you are giving it to small children, as I'm sure you would.

Its best to go to a dealer [with all remotes you own], and have them go in with the scan tool and erase all transmitter id's that the vsm has stored in it, then program the module with the current remotes that you have.

Just the process of programing all current remotes erases all previous stored remotes.
