The previous owner put a battery maintainer under the hood and wired it into the fuse box. Is this safe?
Yeah, that is the part I thought about being the hot heat is around the corner with the season change. It's safe if he was careful with the wiring, but I don't like how it's blocking airflow to the radiator.
When I've added battery maintainers to anything, I added a 12V quick disconnect and kept the AC part of the maintainer outside of the vehicle.
Wired like that, I would think that it might be drawing some current from the battery when it is not plugged into AC.
So right now it would be wise to remove the way he had it? I don't plan on parking this car much now as it's currently my daily driver. I got the car with roughly 44,00 Miles in November and she is close to 50K now and likely in the next week or so will pass that. It's safe if he was careful with the wiring, but I don't like how it's blocking airflow to the radiator.
