Are these alternators good for our LS? Or what do i really have to look for in a new HO Alternator?

Pricey little something.... Anyone else here ever used this brand?

Never heard of it.

I thought there was only one HO alternator and that was the db electrical one which sucks.

And why do you want one??

Honestly Black, I have a DB which has never been installed but bench tests perfectly. Been in a box for over a year. I never quite got up to the power levels from a component standpoint to have it, and the the big 3, done. May get around to it one day. Funny thing is, I should have had it installed when the engine was getting replaced but forgot that the darn thing was on a shelf in my girlfriend's house. LOL.

A member here had major issues with it installed....it was producing low voltage at idle and ive researched it online and similar issues with others.

I saw those as well. I guess on certain things I look at it as if only 3 or 4 were bad out of "x" many, then I do not label things as junk. It was because of those posts that I had mine tested before installing. Now that I think of it, I even replied in one thread that showed the readouts one member was receiving.

Call it lucky or whatever one wants too, but I have a working one. :)

Id like to see someone install one and run it hard...see how it holds up.

It could be just his or it could be the whole line....and with an electrical system as sensitive as ours youll want to be careful. I dont think gen II's have any options.

I will probably upgrade amplifiers in the late Spring so I will keep those interested abreast of how it goes.

Think Lou (Quik) drives hard enough? He's quite happy with his.
(note I'm quite unhappy with the two failed ones I got)

It's hit or miss, I guess.

From a few previous discussions here on the board I believe the general consensus is that there are few, if any, aftermarket alternators let alone ones with a higher current rating. A lot of these alternators have mixed results in there reliability, as stated. It's best to spend the extra money and get an OEM alternator either new or remanufactured from Ford/Motorcraft/Lincoln etc.

If you're in need of one with more current you may want to try and find a place that can rewind your current one to increase the current output. I think that's one of the things they do if they rebuild it to increase the output. I'm not too certain that it's possible on our alternators though. A cheaper way to help is to add the "big 3" upgrade that will reduce the drag caused by smaller gauge wire from your system. Assuming you're looking into this because of an audio system.

guess I'm kind of late, I was just asking because I was thinking about buying a new audio system that might end up being around a couple thousand watts and just wanted to make sure before I get things that are either incompatible or just a big FAIL lol
