My 02 LS has a popping noise that I can't figure out. I put it on a lift and everything underneath is tight. We've checked ball joints and every bolt on the front but still no luck. When sitting still it will not make a noise no matter what you do but once you start driving it the smallest bump will make it pop. I was told today this is a common problem with the LS when it reaches 100,000 miles. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was making the noise?

Thanks!

So weird, mine just started popping today. I was diving hard in and out of corners, and now when I take a hard right turn, I hear a distinct pop that sounds like a medium piece of bubble wrap being burst. *pop*

Had no idea what it was. Is that what yours sounds like chrome?

Yep. I had the swap bar ends replaced, new ball joints on both side, and checked the front shocks. Everything is tight but still pops. When going straight across a parking lot any small pot hole makes it pop and when driving on streets with rough asphalt it sounds like the whole front end is about to fall out.

HyeLifeLS is on track here I think. I had the pops in the front end. At the advise of a shop I replaced the front bearing hubs ($225), and still the pops. I thought it was the lower ball joints but decided to replace the sway bar mounting bushings ($20) and now it's all quiet. Not an easy job because the DCCV sits over the passenger side front bolt. It can be taken loose and set aside. You then need two ten-inch extensions and loosen the bushing bolts from the top. Do a search and see good details on replacing these along with part numbers for Energy Suspension replacements.
