I like the look of my stock 17" rims but I just wish they were polished aluminum vs the somewhat dull finish they have now. Getting them chromed is out of the question since I live in the land of snow and salt. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have them polished and cleared?

My guess is that it'd be just as cheap to buy a new set of rims but it never hurts to check all avenues.

I just used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on mine the other day. Came out pretty nice! Or are you looking to fix big chips or something?

no, they're in good shape right now. But I want to polish them so they gleam like the chrome wheels would and put a clear coat on them so I don't have to hit them with Mothers twice a week.

I don't know, maybe it's not even possible. I did something like this to an old sportbike that I used to have. Those wheels were painted. I used Aircraft Remover to strip the paint then used progressively finer sandpaper and finished up with fine steel wool. Looked like a mirror but upkeep was a pain since there was nothing to protect the aluminum. Plus, it took me the better part of a weekend to do a small amount of retail space. Based on that, there's no way that I'm gonna tackle a job like this in my garage. I'll gladly pay to have someone do it as long as it's not cost prohibitive.

use mothers metal polish with a mothers powerball and it'll look great and get them shiney quickly...Not for chrome wheels.
