Okay folks, this may be a dumb question, but I searched for PCV in all forums and came up with nothing. But, my question is, where the hell is the pcv valve? I have read around and I've heard they are "integral" on the valve cover, but in my recent valve cover gasket replacement, I don't remember seeing them, but I wasn't really looking either I guess.

Do I have to pull the freaking valve cover again to get to it? Hopefully not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this is a common topic and I just searched for the wrong term, let me know, I'll search again.

Thanks in advance.

pcv

Maybe this will help....looks like under the front of the intake????

If this is a V6, it's in the rear. The diagram actually does look like the V6 setup, and if you look at the block below the indicated location of the PCV valve, the bell housing bolt pattern seems to be what is illustrated. Again, that would be the back end of the engine, and it does require removal of the entire intake and fuel injection aseembly to get at, even to see it. I had to change a COP on the passenger bank at 102K miles, which 100K is the replacement interval for the PCV and plugs. I had the plugs and COP, but had to wait out the weekend to get the PCV valve, since none of the weekend auto parts stores stock that oddball PCV valve. I wasn't going to install the injectors and intake without changing that valve after what I went through to get to it. After that car got totalled, my next one, purchased with 83 k miles, will need the plugs and PCV changed soon. Guess what I bought the first week I had it? A new PCV valve. It will be ready whenever I change the plugs or COPs on the passenger side bank.

BTW: The V8 could also have a similar placement for the PCV, in either case, the rear of the block seems to be illustrated with the bell housing pattern partially shown.

I have owned a v6 and replaced that very part. Actually what you are looking to replace is the elbow tube not the valve.

Is it labor intensive... a resounding yes but it is definitely something you can do. I did mine on my old 00 V6 a few years ago. I bought the elbow tubing from autozone and my iac, gaskets, coils and boots from mrzeee when i did it. He is a great source for ford oem parts and if you decide to do this yourself suggest that you buy oem replacemnts with the exception of the tubing.

The tubing I bought was steel mesh reinforced and cost me a whopping .79 cents.

The v8 does not have the pcv so if you own a v8 you can stop worrying. If you have the v6 buy some basic metric hand tools a shop manual and a few parts from mrzeee and get busy. Afterwards you can celebrate knowing you saved yourself about 1200 dollars if not more.

Mine too

My 01 V6 needed the hose replaced not the PVC. The hose is rubber and it is covered completely on top of the engine so it gets super hot and the rubber turns frail and cracks letting air into the system. It cost $400 at the dealer to replace. The job can be done by a DIY, but hard long job to do. The hose cost about $1.00.

Cool, thanks guys, I have the V8, so I won't worry about it. Sorry for the long delay, I was in Talladega this weekend and forgot about this post. Thanks again for the help.
