Painting Calipers

Well, it's time for me to do this mod. I know plenty of members here have done this, so I'm looking for some instructions. I think I'll be using red Duplicolor Caliper Paint.

Can I do it while the calipers are still on the car?

Brush on or spray?

Thanks for the help guys. I'd prefer not to remove the calipers, because I don't really feel like bleeding the brakes.
 
Use a brush to paint them. I used a brush to paint them black and they turned out great. I did not take the calipers off and was still able to paint the areas necessary.
 
:I It's much easier to leave them on... I used some plastic bags to put over the rotors and masking tape to cover the slider bushings, brake hoses, etc.

Very easy to do - just time consuming. Make sure you wait until they're dry to put your wheels back on - there is hardly any clearance and it's easy to scrape them...
 
Thanks guys! So... supplies needed would be paint, brake cleaner, wire brush, masking materials, and that's it right?

I'm quite sure that Duplicolor sells everything (almost) in a kit. Should be with the other spray cans.

F**K! I stripped a nut. I remember this was brought up previously, but when ordering replacements, what's the best ones that work on a 2000? They have the "new" part number for that year, which I'm assuming is a redesigned nut that isn't so damned soft. Is this the correct one? Or will gen 2 lug nuts fit? Sorry to go off topic.
 
Yeah, I saw the sebring nuts. Just wondering if the redesigned lug from lincoln is as durable as that one. Plus I can get the lincoln ones cheaper than the sebring ones.
 
Well, just went to the chrysler dealer to pick up 1 lug nut to see how it works. Hopefully this works. Now I gotta go buy a 19mm socket to pound onto the nut I stripped.

I use 3/4 in. and that fits on mine.

Same problem when i did the calipers 2 weeks ago, i even had the gun, i had to take everything out by hand, i have to order now.
 
Take the calipers appart and drop them off at the powder coater's... the paint won't last with salt on the roads...
 
your lucky, i've broke 2 studs removing my own wheels. and the mechanic didn't want to accept responsibility when i knew damn well it was him. i'm still rolling around with only 4 studs on one wheel and 2 other ones (different corners) need lug nuts. haven't had time to buy them
