While driving humming sound came from under hood. Not loud just constant. After pulling onto main road, check engine light and engine temp warnings came on.

Pulled over and shut off engine. Made a boiling sound, but no steam noted.

Scanner showed P1299 error - cylinder head over temp protection active.

Help!

Search the gen II V8 cooling system threads.
Basically, the three plastic cooling system parts at the front of the engine, the two major radiator hoses, and the degas bottle need to be replaced. You might as well replace the thermostat too since it has to come out. You may find that you also need to replace one or more of the following - throttle body heater hoses, heater hoses, DCCV, aux pump, radiator, or water pump. Also, this would be a good time to replace the belt.

After you're done, replace all the coolant and bleed correctly to to letter of the procedure in the service manual.
