Hey guys, I am posting on here because me and my dad have been trying to figure out his new 05 Lincoln LS 3.0 v6's lack of power issue. The only code showing is p0430 which is the bank 2 catalyst issue. The symptoms are as follows, 1) The car lacks power very badly, 2) When attempting to accelerate, the engine seems very audible, but not really like an exhaust leak.

The car idles fine, doesn't act as if there is a huge vacuum leak, and the fact that there are no mis-fire codes showing up makes me think that it isn't an ignition issue. We don't want to go throw parts at the car if they don't fix the issue. Also, how would we test if the cat on the drivers side is bad?

Most likely one or both of your catalytic converters are clogged. A quick test is to remove the front O2 sensors and take a test drive. If the engine has more power when you do that, you've found it.

Note that they didn't just clog for no reason. They clogged because your engine has been running rich or misfiring. The most common cause is marginal COPs (ignition coils). I would advise that you change all six plugs and coils before the replacement converters are damaged.

warning, dont be alarmed at how loud the car is when doing this ;) ^^

Sounds similar to what just happened to mine today, on the highway tried to accelerate car didn't want to but when I slowed down and then accelerated again it seemed fine. Felt rough when it happened. Got an OBD scan the other day and mechanic said I had a bad passenger side cat. Is this similar to thread starters problem? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
