So I work at 3 different fire departments where I typically work 24 hour shifts, so my car sits outside in the elements ALOT. Just the other day I noticed a bird sh*t on my car and left a nice burn mark in the clearcoat after I washed it off..I was super pissed especially since it was on both the hood and front bumper (two of the things that were just painted)..luckily I was able to get it off with some rubbing compound..never the less it makes me mad.
Did I mention how hard it is to keep a daily driver nice?? I forgot that it's just as hard to keep a car clean in the summer as it is in the winter..with all of the pollen, tree sap, dust from summertime construction and relentless sun..never ends, I end up washing my car after every shift and sometimes while I'm at work..and wax it probably once every week or two..it's a part time job in itself.
With that said I have been thinking about getting a car cover to put on while I'm at work, however I've heard horror stories about car covers ruining paint when it sits outside from the cover rubbing against the paint and causing clear coat scratches etc..soo does anyone know of any good car covers made out of a soft material that won't scratch the paint? or does anyone have any better suggestions??
the dust bowl in front of one of the stations
baking in the sun
aftermath of bird sh*t
after cleaning, buffing and waxing the bird sh*t mark off
