Pic was taken at New England Dragway on June 11. Allegedly, he blew it up at the line. :shifty:
Anybody recognize it?

Ouch! That sucks...Just saw that car on 101 few days ago...Looked sharp rolling down the road...

yeah it was him. i was gonna try to get up to NED tonight or tomorrow too and meet him. I guess it was just his intake so hopefully he's rolling again soon. this could have been prevented so anyone else out there toying with the N2O idea, dont run it without this

Not much as far as details go, but there were flames, allegedly. Don't know for sure because I wasn't there, someone posted that shot, along with a bunch of other cars that ran that night, on another forum I frequent.

pretty sure he had a wet kit so it was probably just the rest of the unburned fuel in the intake burning off. still scary to have a nozzle spray fuel and nitrous over a hot motor.

YUP I've seen that car! Looks just like the one I blew up this wednesday! HAHAHAHAHAHA

Long story shortened as much as possible.

Runnin 100 shot wet. Three passes made unsuccessful with N2O spray. 15.5 at best. Found my micro switch was missing a screw so it was just pushing up. Fixed that and got in line for the fourth and what would be the fatal run.

Now the way I am set up..... I want complete control over the deployment of nitrous. I have my arm switch and the micro switch. I was arming the system at 3k and letting the throttle/microswitch control it from there. After run three and tinkering in the pits..... I didnt disarm the system. When I mashed the gas at the tree........... BOOM The car rolled maybe 60' before stopping. I got out, popped the hood and the MAF was on fire. I blew it out. Litterally no more fire than on a birthday cake. But it was clearly visable from the stands as my 3yo daughter was screaming when her daddy's car blew up and caught fire with him in it. I heard her from the track. That is the worst part. I can fix the car. big deal! But her screaming in horror I cant take. anyway back on topic. Nitrous sprayed with not enough fuel created a massive backfire. At wide open throttle, it shot out the valve and up throught the intake. Blew the stock intake clear off the throttle body and the mounting screws that hold it in place. The baffles from ford were removed by force. All hoses were blown off and the stock air box is warped beyond repair. MAF sensor and wiring harness are now one piece, but work propperly. There sounds like a hole in the exhaust, but I wont be able to tell for sure untill I get the intake fixed. That being said I've been working on the fabrication of a CAI for a little while now.... I'm actually on my third or fourth design. Its ready for implimentation...... just need a couple more welds, a grind and some paint. I still will not be putting a controller in or a windo switch..... Not enough control on it. If it blows up, it will be because of me, not an electrical piece malfunctioning.

Damn that car looks good een when its being pushed! I'm a little biased, but I think my LS might be the cleanest looking one ive seen!

97STSCaddy, where you at guy? you in the NH area?

PMJJ, why havent we talked? Where in manch you at? My sister lives up there off candia road

Nah, I'm in VA, and it sucks because the only tracks close to me are 1/8th mile, and not really worth the drive and entrance fee to run on them.

That is a very clean looking car though.

Why is there no "thumbs up" smiley? :shifty:

Yeah I saw you on 101 and I was thinking that has to be you, cause theirs no others around that clean.
I don't get to drive the LS its my wifes, but she lets me trick it out with whatever I want.
We live on the river down past Hesser College.
I have a close friend that works @ Gervais L/M down near you in Lowell, so if you ever need anything let me know.

Um, I do not see any carnage pics... Did someone say they seen a picture someone had taken in the stands of Sean's crispy MAF? I didn't see anything.

Yeah I think the worst part for me too, would have been if my kid witnessed that happen. I am sure your little girl was terrified.

Just curious but do you have a fire extinguisher mounted in the car? The second I put nitrous in the car an extinguisher went in the trunk too. It is a good safety item to have... I might end up doing a full halon system in the Exploder due to the nature of that beast.
