That putting an alt on the BOTTOM of an engine is a good idea? Holy s**t....not much room to get that thing out. And I don't think that splash shield is going to keep the water out of it.
iDid yours go bad, if so go to the dealer and get the remanufactured one. Its not as hard to remove as it looks, there is a write up on it in the tech articles section though. It took me around 45 minutes or so to take it out and put the new one in.
Mine was a real tight fit so to get it out I had to get a long piece of like 1 by 2 and placed one end on the pully and tapped the other with a hammer, you might not have this problem though because my new one went right in.
Yes I got it out.....lots of my "old sailor" words helped!I finally figured out to turn the thing sideways and it almost fell out. Putting the new one in wasn't half as bad when I figured that out.
same here and once i got it sideways it fell right on my sternum which was a tad uncomfortable
They built the car upside down and no one told them. Why else do we have all these problems? They figured it out on their other cars, check out where the alt is located, on top!
