Nice...cannot find an oil pump for my 2000 3.9. Ford has discontinued. Anyone have a low mileage pump around or know where a new one is for sure??? Need it asap.
Bullet dodged..... the engine shop cleaned up the oil pump that was on the motor and sent it with my rebuilt engine. WHEW!!!!! Damn I was nervous. Ford's site shows it being a good part number but it indeed has been discontinued.
I totally agree!!!!! That is a warning and a half. All of u 2nd gen owners better buy one and put it up on the shelf for a very rainy day. All other parts seem to be easily purchased.
Joe...I bought one for a friend two years ago but I guess things have changed. LOL. This could suck. I will call and ask the engine shop for it tomorrow. In the meantime, I just found a crank pulley on eBay and made an offer. Sounds as if LS's are gonna be rare in about 15 years and We will appreciate seeing one on the road that much more.
Well, here is an update. Somehow, I lucked into an 03-04 oil pump on Ebay that was ordered by someone who never picked it up. Technically, it has a different part number than the 2000 part number but it does match up perfectly when you look at the schematics on fordparts.com. I am hoping that it is just a matter of the part needing re-threaded. If it is able to be used, I just dodged the LARGEST of the large bullets. If not, I'll just put it back on Ebay because this is gonna be a part that someone is going to want if rebuilding considering it is no longer available for purchase......HINT fellow 3.9 LVC members.
Here is a positive though, if it does work, I am going to be the proud owner of 2(used) extra oil pumps which could be used by someone who may fall into the same problem. If it doesn't work, I am going to have to use the lower mileage of the 2 oil pumps but will still have one to that may be a piece of gold.
