Well mine went the shop priced it at 800 bucks for parts and labor.

thoughts??

That sounds like a good price for the V6. The manual says that the engine has to be lifted part way out. (It's trivial to change the gasket on the V8).
 
The v8 just says raise and support vehicle.. Drain oil and remove bolts.. Remove oil pan.. (NVM.. Just checked for the V6 and it says the same thing.. nothing about removal or lifting of the engine so maybe that part is just generic..)

If it's a small leak than it's your call..
 
Look at it yourself. If you can get to all of the bolts and drop the pan without lifting the engine, just do it yourself.
 
I'm assuming the subframe is in the way according to what Joe posted.. So It might be able to be jacked around and possibly take it out without doing anything to the engine
