I recently purchased the oem navigation to upgrade from the standard 6 disc stereo currently in my LS8. So far, I have the actual navigation unit and the trunk mounted navigation disc reader. What other pieces do I need to complete this install outside of the wiring harness. I have heard about possibly having to upgrade the amplifier? I am new to this so any help would be appreciated. I was under the assumption this would be a swap out. I do plan to have the nav system professionally installed.

Sell that stuff and go aftermarket. Cheaper and easier. This is no small task you're trying to accomplish. After reading about what's involved, I gave up on the idea of retrofitting it to my 03 with the in-dash CD6.

not a simple swap at all, along with the harness you will need the gps antenna, like NYC said you would be better off selling the factory nav and getting an aftermarket nav system, they cost a lot less than factory and they do a lot more.

You will need to replace the main harness behind the dash, add a harness from the truck to the amp-nav reader. Installing the gps antenna needs removal of the dash to install in the factory location. Like all the others above have said go aftermarket and save your self a lot of headache. I looked into it about 2 yrs ago and gave up. Go with the Pioneer Avic 2 or 3 systems. And add an Ipod interface. Good luck.
