well I had the clock spring replaced and great! the steering controls work fine, however, I still have an airbag sensor light on the instrument cluster, any advice as to what I am looking at for repair or what the problem might be

It's probably the connection under the driver's seat. Over time the wires in the airbag connection fray from movement due to the easy entry/exit feature. The dealer can repair the connection or you can buy a new harness and install it yourself. There is a TSB for this.

One of the reported problems with the underseat connector is that the pin backs out of the connector; sometimes the airbag light can be fixed by just pushing the pin back into the connector. Sometimes the wire breaks at the connector, and a simple soldering job will do the trick.

If you'll search, you should find a couple of threads on the topic.
