Ok, peeps, what is the saying? What can go wrong...will. Just got my car out of the shop last Tuesday morning after $1467.00 parts and labor for valve cover gaskets, ect..., (my warrenty ran out last month), so the day I get it out I drive it less than 4 miles and it looses antifreeze. It goes back in the shop, and the shop says they will cover the rental and the repair. I just got the car out yesterday, drove it to work and back, seemed ok. This morning I heard a whistling noise and thought the rear passanger window was slightly down. POP!!!!! There goes the window regulator!!!! I know because the passenger driver window went out this time last year! UGH!!! I cant afford the repairs any longer. In the 3 years I have had this car, besides paying the sale price, $1400.00 for 3 year ext warrenty, I have paid $3700.00 in parts and labor that the warrenty didn't cover! It only has 94xxx on it. What's a guy to do this is nickeling me dime and penny.... Where can I get a regulator on the cheap and can I do this myself?

And let folks know what kind of extended aftermarket warranty you purchased, so the younger posters can be reminded that most extended aftermarket warranties are crap, as it appears you are finding out.

But the regulator repair is a DIY. Window regulators fail, and not just on LS's. I've had them go out in prior BMW's as well.

The warrenty was offered by the dealer at the time I bought the car used. 54xxx miles on the car at the time I bought it. The Silver package which took care of most covered items for 3 yr or 30xxx costed $1400.00, but I dont think I got that much covered repairs.

I just called around to another dealership, they will match my frequested dealerships' price. I also called Firestone (they did all my work on my 91 excort and 98 contour) they quoted the labor about $100.00 less than the other dealers. So, I am probably going to take it to there if I can get off work early.

You only got 6000 miles left man, these cars get much better after 100000 lol. 3700 is bad, but mine was around 6-7gs...

No man, not anymore. I fixed it up. Got some Jag wheels and lowered it. 143500 miles now. Check Gallery.

Well, I hope this will be the last of the repairs for a while. I have no more money to put into it. besides I have to replace the noisey struts! I will not be giong back to any stealerships no mo, Firestone for me!

I thought about selling it, but after all the money put into it, (alterations, repairs, ect.... ) I'll never get anything close out of it. So, I'll have to keep it, and suffer with the high gas prices.

Highway 64 is going to close for repair for the next 2 years, so I'm going to have to spend extra time and gas to go another route back and forth to work.

Hey, maybe some truck can total my car and put it out of it's misery, and I can move on to a cheap nissan versa or something cheap. HAHA
