When I first start my 95 mark it really knocks for about 2 seconds then alls ok.
I thought it was the regular gas but for the last two tanks of premium it still does it.
Maybe chain knock? or Main knock? or should I go to a heaver oil ? I'm using mobil 1

Tension chain rattle. As long as its not persistent it nothing to worry about. If ya do a search on it you will get more reading than you want. Some have replaced tensioners and it was still there. You can try different oils, it may help a little.

I would also say it is the fact that after sitting for a while, the heads and valvetrain dont have any oil, it takes a few seconds for the oil to lubricate the valvetrain. so maybe using a different oil, maybe a synthetic ( i dont know what you use) might help. how long has it been sitting when it does this? overnight? a week?

'93 model Mark with original engine over 193,000 miles. I never have a problem with chain rattle.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic, and Motorcraft FL820s filters.
