A few seconds after I shut my 2006 LS off I've been noticing a strange pumping or gulping sound coming from behind my steering wheel, It normally lasts for 2 to 6 mins. It has that same gulping sound kinda like how a bottle of soda sounds when you take a big drink of it or poor it out.. Any ideas on what that could be? My A/C blows cold, car doesn't run hot and I don't see anything leaking onto the garage floor..

I asked this same question not long ago. I have these noises myself. The auto climate control moves air around with electrically operated doors. After you shut the car off for some reason those doors move around. I posted a similar question and Joegr gave me a similar answer (he knows what he is talking about). Run the self diagnostic of the DATC module and if you get no codes, all is well.

I have no idea how to run the self diagnostic test. lol

Press OFF, DEFROST, & AUTO at the same time when you turn the ignition on. I think. It will take a moment to run. All DATC blocks iluminated means no problem.

does the motor have to be running, or just have the key in the on position?

I've heard this before too... sounds like a hard drive from a computer.

From what I remember we have all kinds of motors/servos opening and closing doors for our climate control. These things cycle to keep in working order. That's the noise you sometimes hear.
