No heat on passenger side?

Alright guys, before I get bashed about searching, which I did. I can not seem to get heat from my passenger side as of today. It was a nice 37degres this morning and the first time I used the heat so I cant really figure this out. Now I read a lot about the dccv and I'm thinking that this is more than likey the problem but does anyone have any other thoughts? My driver side works great and my ac has no problem at all and most problems I see with dccv are ac related, so before I go and get a dccv anyone have any other causes of this? I also had a lot of cooling system problems which are now fixed, could this be related at all as to incorrect bleeding the system or anything?
 
DCCV. It's stuck closed on the passenger side. Be sure to flush your cooling system when you replace the DCCV, so that the new one is less likely to get stuck or clogged. (I assume that you have heat on the driver's side.)

yes I have heat on the driver side, I thought It would be the dccv but just trying to get some info because we all know these cars are a bit*h. Just making sure Im not overlooking something simple. Whats the best way to get to that thing in a gen1, better to go from the top or bottom? Didn't find much info on changing it.

Go from both directions. ;)

The mount is a little strange on the Gen 1. The DCCV is bolted to a mount which is then bolted to the frame. Make sure you're unbolting the mount and not the DCCV itself. Easier to get out that way. Remember there are 4 or 5 hoses on that thing.

Get lots of light, lots of small wrenches, sockets and swivels, and patience.
 
I will be replacing mine soon also, when I take fix my bumper, replace fenders and replace a headlight (once I find one).

Will this be easier to replace with all that removed on a gen 2 or it really doesn't matter? I'm only waiting to do it so I can do everything at once while I'm doing work.

Well, it's possible that you have a bad DATC or a failed passenger side temp sensor, but it's much more likely to be the DCCV.
 
I would say Dccv mine did the same thing and killed my battery as well and it had a hairline crack in it that started to leak.
 
Alright guys thanks, guess I go pick one up before winter comes around as my windshield defroster is all f'd up and that wont be fun, since the passenger side is blowing cold. Any tips or tricks on getting that thing out and in the simplest way?
 
I just did mine for the 2nd time and it's not to bad of a job. I think it took about 2 hrs to do. Yeah best to go from top and bottom to get to it. I also found it easier the keep the mount in the car and just remove the dccv by it self

hey your only like a 30min drive from me, maybe should do some hands on training with changing it :) lol

seriously that sounds like a plan. I don't have any tools or area to work on my car unless I bug the crap out of my grandfather and he does more damage than good, oh god when he helped me change my alternator it took him 6hs and then broke something in my ac line that cost me $80 lol as I'm telling him he is doing it wrong he says he's a professional and never makes mistakes!. You did this before so it would really help.
 
Yeah not a problem. Let me know if u need a dccv also I get a discount on a factory one if u want? How soon do u want to do it?
