I was just out working on the car, because the automatic doors were giving me problems. This is what's going on. When I move the door to certain positions the door accumulators work certain spots it doesn't. I noticed when I hit the button to activate the doors (if the door is in the right spot) it throws a spark. WHAT THE HELL DID THESE GUYS, THAT DID MY DOORS, DO TO MY CAR??????????????? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

find a spot where the actuators don't work and grab and wiggle the rubber boot shaking the harness in the door jam (the wires on ALL fords are prone to break here) if thats it slide the boot back and run a new wire

Chicken, it not even a month old. I know it could happen in one day too. So, I will check that out tomorrow morning. Is that what it sounds like? Could it be anything else?

Thanks

Sorry man, that was stupid to PM you. It just strikes me odd that it would spark at the door hinge itself and not down where the short would be. Does that make any sense?

Would it travel up from the rubber area between the body and the door where its contacting the metal and run up through the door and out of the hinge? Is that common? It seams like it would spark down where the break in the wire would be instead of traveling up to the hinge and out. Sorry for the repetitive ?'s and so many of them. I really do appreciate your time. Oh it sparked back at the door latch a couple times also

Greg

Honestly thats the last question

i dunno id get the door panel off and have a look in there and see. when you see the sparks is the door open or closed or what, and is it when your hitting the button or does it just spark when your not doing anything?

It sparks when I hit the button and moving the door back and forth. It probably just what you are saying. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks again man,

greg

something is touching metal so apparently arcing across the door to the hinge and body, apparently this is the path of least resistance. i would bet that a wire is touching the door somewhere inside. it could be at a certain point if the wire was cut short and is stretched to reach the actuator. the wire may have been pulled across a sharp piece of the door. that would be my bet.

did they put fuses on these runs?

Well, The dumb:q :q :q where I had it installed used the door itself as a ground, so at certain times the door would lose ground on the aculators wouldn't work. I went in an ran all new grounds to the interior of the car and all is well. Thanks chickenVIII for your help as well as everyone else that chimed in.
