Acutally multiple but I'll just start with a couple here.
1. I have a 94 Mark VIII and am wondering if the passenger side air bag can be removed and the area it was in used for installing something else.
2. In fact can the whole air bag restraint system be disabled at all?
3. can a 96 or newer OBD2 computer be retrofitted to the OBD1/EEC-V system?

I've got an idea or 2 about using the passenger air bag space and was wondering if someone could answer fairly quickly?

Thanks anyone for any input.

What for mobile video. If so i think thats retarded. Can't think of nethig else that it would be good for.Gotta tell us what it is, and if you'd want your potential passenger to...........

But yes, i beleive it can be removed. 2 or 3 bolts on either side iirc.

and with just 1 thing unplugged on the sys the entire sys will disarm. if the light it on the bags wont go off

I can think of what it would be good for...

Are you building a hidden compartment? Your location isn't too far away from a major trafficing hub. If this is the case, let me advise you to rethink your lifestyle... (and don't forget about IP address logging)

Otherwise... if that isn't the case... I still think it's #1, a horrible idea to remove a safety device from your vehicle, #2... illegal to remove a safety restraint device from a highway bound motor vehicle, #3 just begging for a law suit should someone be injured during a wreck while sitting in the passenger seat, and last but not least... #4, should you disable your safety restraint devices in your automobile, your car insurance could refuse payment of your medical bills resulting from a crash in which you knowingly increased the risk to your health by the removal or disabling of safety equipment. Just because other's do it and have done it... does not make it a good idea!

ODBII computer upgrade... I can't say for sure, but my first guess would be no, you can not just simply plug in an ODBII computer. I'd be very surprised if the connections were the same, and I could almost promise system incompatibilities between the old system and new computer

Boy some people get negative immediately.
1 In everyday life I am pretty much a loner. I never have any passengers.
2 I'm not a trafficker, and even if I was I wouldn't try that because the K-9 officers can smell out anything.
3. I've seen enough statistics before that air bags scare me sometimes doing more damage than good.
The idea's I have are tied to the car and computer. The OBD2 question is part of it.
I'm a hacker typeand like to take things apart and make them better. With as packed as these cars are with gadgets and electronics, I'm looking for space to put computer guts to tie into the cars so that you can control everything on the fly. Program it to do whatever I want.
Just an off the hand example. Your at work and by midday the temp gets tothe high 90's. The computer senses it and cracks the windows down 1/2 to 1 inch.

That's also where the obd2 comes into it partly since it ties all the seperate systems into one instead of have to have different scan readers for all the different systems in the car.

It's just an idea still in the fetal stages anyway.
Just because I'm pretty much a newbie posting. I've just got my first Mark VIII a few months ago. I've been lurking the boards a reading for 5-6 years ever since I owned my Mark VII LSC.I was working on connecting the mark viii's suspension computer to replace the 7's so the car would lower at highway like the 8's when someone slammed into me from the side and totaled it.

But what if it started to RAIN?

I wouldn't want my car to get "hot and steamy" inside and ROLL Down the windows in a pouring rain!

that'd suck.

Just say NO TO HAXORING MARK 8's.
They are already l33t cars from the factory.
(joking grin)

I recall seeing a page on cardomain where the guy had removed his right rear trim (by the right rear passenger seat), modified the structure behind it to mount a computer. Then he just put the interior back on and you couldn't even tell it was there. Might be something to consider.

I understand your dislike of airbags... but it's just like seat belts... yes, sometimes they can cause injury. But the majority of the time when they deploy, it is quite possible they saved your life.

Forgive the negativity but when someone comes on asking if you can do away with the passenger side airbag and "installing something else" (with no additional details)... red flags sort of start going up for me.

Anyway, good luck with your project; certainly something different that I've never seen/heard of before.
