So, what is the best way to get a performance tune on a 93 Mark VIII? This stuff is all pretty new to me, as I am verrrry old school hot rodding ;) . I haven't had a performance car in many years, but dying to get back into it and learn.
These are OB1, right?

Thanks
Duck

I am new to tuning cars myself, and if you want to talk with someone who really know whats what when it comes to tuning Marks pm XLRVIII, Tommy is on top of his stuff.

Duck, unless you have around a grand to spend.. then your best most cost efficient option is to get a chip from someone like Lonnie at Blue Oval Chips.

a DIY tuning solution for the EEC IV 93 mark 8 is between 900-1100 depending on who you get the SCT pro racer package from.

With that said.. unless you have literally hundreds of hours to devote to it.. AND unless you can objectively view the very limited data you can get out of the EEC4..again.. you'd be better off with a tune from someone like Lonnie at BOC or Torrie at Fastpartsnetwork.com

NOW.. being an old school hotrodder, I'm assuming you love to tinker with things, if that's the case..and you can swallow the "nearly a grand" investment.. then the SCT Pro Racer Package will let you take command of your cars PCM and give you the ability to make both very subtle changes to the tune AND night and day difference type changes to the tune.

It really depends on what your goal is..
The cheapest, quickest way out.. or.. "the best way".

Thanks, XLRVIII. That's the kind of info i was looking for. I will check on the chips you suggested.

Thanks again,
Duck

Hello Duck, another person I would give serious consideration to also is one of our sponsors, LMS- Geno. He sells a chip, MAF and a true dual exhaust system among other things. He has been doing this stuff for Mark VIII's for a long time. I've read a lot of excellent posts regarding his quality of product etc. I've ordered his hood and wing and his exhaust is next on my list. Then I'm getting his chip and MAF. Likewise, as XLRVIII stated, Iv'e seen Lonnie frequently get high mention too. Just another source to check out so you don't get burned by some unknown. Good luck. Gary in Elmira.
