I've always wanted an LS, about a year ago I found a bone stock mint 80K mi. maroon 2000 3.0 5sp sport and this car is freaking awesome.
I've had some of the typical problems - COP's due to a leaking valve cover gasket; upper coolant hose plastic tube leak, front end rattle (still unresolved but assume the sway bar bushings), and the infamous occasional front end vibration when driven cold. With all of that said, I love this ride. Haven't driven a more fun, great looking car. Had a guy with a 2010 5 series pull over the other day and tell me how much he loves the LS' and complimented the color. My son's friends (17yrs old) think it's pretty bad a$$ and have nick named it Big Red. I don't think you can find a more awesome car for the money if you're careful about what you buy.
I was looking for a bit of info if anyone can help:
What cold air intake would you recommend? I've seen alot of posts for the 3.9, but the 3.0's are lacking.
Where is the PCV valve on this thing? I've had the upper intake off and still couldn't find it.
Has anyone with a manual felt a clunk when you shift gears? Not when you release the clutch, but when you actually shift. Seems like it might be a drivetrain lash issue to me.
Has anyone discovered a better solution/part than that crummy plastic tube that connects the upper radiator hose with the intake, with the thermo housing, etc? That's seems like a real half a$$ed part. It would be nice if it were aluminum.
