Hey guys, currently the LSC came with JBL (speakers cone are cracked, popping like mad) and the previous owner had a Clarion headunit installed-which i'm happy with although it is basic.

I want to get 4 new speakers, no extra tweeters for the doors etc, i just want 4 speakers. Any recommendations for cheap, in the past i've used pioneer they used to be $60 a pair for 6X8's (is this the size for our mark?). I don't want to spend over $160 for 4 speakers.

Also do i need a special adapter for the connection at the speaker? I'm good with a soldering iron/wires etc, can i splice/solder etc?

You really need to find out how the previous owner wired up the Clarion hu.... Marks are not the most straight forward car to do a stereo install in and most recommend starting from scratch and rewiring everything.

You know i was just researching the factory system...OH GOD lol.

I might wait and see, i might get back into my "car audio" again, i used to LOVE installing systems, it's been 7 years since that time lol.

I'm thinking about it now, a new h/u, a 6.5 comp set up front and a sub in the trunk, new wires, big 3 upgrade etc. I used to have my tbird setup that way, it was a 3-point system, just comp up front, sub in the back, you don't really need back speakers if your fronts are loud, good staging.

Jeez i'm gonna go $$nuts$$ on this i know it..

Are all marks with jbl factory run through an amplifier? Guy at best buy told me that they're two ford jbl systems and luckily mine didn't have it. Somehong about jbl vs jbl premium. I saw those pioneers at walmart how are they, they were 44 I think.

It's not that bad, you have to take your time. A trick i always use, a shirt hanger-a metal one. You cut the hanger, bend it whichever way you need, tape a portion of the wire to it, then feed it through holes your hands cannot reach/enter.

Yeah rewire... it's REALLY easy to do a lot easier than tryin to figure out the wiring mess they have stock... I ran 12 gauge monster wire to all my speakers and it was pretty easy... I went with polk momo's in the front and infinity kappa components in back... sounds crazy awesome!... I also put in an alpine amp too to power them... but I did 5x7's everyone says oval speakers aren't as good as circle... but tell you the truth... if you're not tryin to make a competition system I doubt you'll notice... I got my polks for like 80 bucks and I got my infinities for around 120... just watch for sales...
