LMFAO.....its bad when your car does such crazy things you cant help but laugh.

The events that took place befor my car was started this morning...

last night: cold start -then brake stand. Hard acceleration 4-5 times. id say an average of 90mph on the highway for 7 miles. then another brake stand into a pretty awesome donut, nice and smokey.

Yes - i was driving retarded. No - noone was in the car or near me on the roads. Only one who couldve been hurt was me. Im not bragging, just telling you guys that i did beat the piss out of my car last night. And i think it was into the low 30's last night maybe high 20's.

Turn the key this morning, back out. start driving. notice i have zero power steering and my Ebrake light is on. I chuckle and tell my car it needs to start getting used to being abused. Anyways i drive for 15 minutes, still no power steering at a dead stop. turn the wheel and the engine rpms drop, ebrake light still on. ZERO whine from the power steering pump.

I get to my destination and turn it off, realizing i wanted to keep it running i turn it back on, pop the hood and investigate. power steering fluid is full. i get back in the car. turn the wheel, viola power steering is back, and my ebrake light is off.

Tempermental car? or something to be concerned about.

P.S. - Dont tell me how to treat my car. Im just looking for an answer.

lol. i dont drive like that often. come on, its a lincoln! but lets face it, we all own a V8 LS because we like power. So why look down on someone who uses it?

It was just really weird though. its done things like that befor too. ill start it and the rpms will flutter like a cylinder or 2 isnt fireing, shut it off - start it and its fine. I guess ill just have to see what it does.

it sounds like the "dead-head" bypass valve in your ps pump stuck open letting everything circulate insted of applying hydraulic pressure, flush the system

Over time I have come to the conclusion that the LS is not a hardy engine/tranny capable of standing up to a lot of abuse. It is a nice powerful tiny engine but nothing like the good old fashioned American iron that could take a lot more abuse.

Anyway... when you do enough "enthusiastic" driving you will break or wear out parts faster than the little old lady will. Just the dues of having fun.

Brake standing is not a good idea. Don't know on the tranny we have, but most automatics are not built to stand up to the pressures and temperatures that a lot of "power braking" causes. In bad cases the torque converter will balloon and then it gets expensive.

Wild guess on the power steering is like the other guy said about the bypass valve or perhaps you over rev'd the engine doing brake stands. Some accessory drive components are not built to handle high RPM. I recall the old SHO had an 8,000 RPM rev limiter to keep from blowing up the AC compressor and other accessories. The engine itself was supposed to be capable of 10,000 RPM.

One other idea, check your water pump for leaks. Don't know on the LS but on other cars can develop leaks from the water pump which drip onto the serpentine belt which causes slippage which can cause the power steering to become intermittant.

Have fun with your car, but realize speed and fun costs money.

ive stopped careing if it can hear me or not.

truth be told the cold hearted bitch runs better when shes got a forsale sign on her.

As soon as I test drove 08 Pontiac G8 GT and had Carmax give me an offer on the LS, it started misfiring and airbag light came on.
Misfiring stopped, but light it still on :(

Not quite. Redline on SHO is 7000 RPM, rev limiter kicks in at 7300. It's a fairly accepted rumor that the engine was desinged for 8000 RPM but it was limited to protect the accessories. Pretty common mod is underdrive pulleys and raising the rev limiter to 7500...
